The ten-dot challenge
Neon Trail is a compact snake game on a twenty-by-twenty playing grid. Collect ten golden dots to win. Each dot lengthens the trail, making the next route more demanding. Touching a wall or running into the occupied body ends the run. The safest plan is not always the shortest line to food: a detour that preserves open space can be better than a quick turn into a corner.
Choose your controls
Use arrow keys or WASD on a keyboard. On a phone, swipe on the board or use the direction buttons. A swipe needs a clear horizontal or vertical movement; tiny gestures are less reliable. The snake cannot reverse straight back into itself. If it is moving right, pressing left immediately will not reverse it. Turn up or down first, then plan the following direction.
Keep an escape route
Look beyond the golden dot before committing to a path. Check which way the head will travel after eating, how close the nearest wall is, and whether the growing body will block a turn. Use the open middle of the board while the trail is short. As it gets longer, favor broad routes that do not divide open space into tiny pockets. Avoid zigzagging through your own recent path without enough room for the tail to clear.
Pause before a difficult stretch
Press P or use Pause when you need a moment to think. The run pauses when you leave the page or switch windows, and you can resume the active game using its controls. Pausing does not give permission to change a lost run into a win. After a collision, Restart begins a fresh run. Treat every failed attempt as information about the point where your route became too narrow.
What is saved
The browser keeps your best dot score. A new visit starts a fresh moving run rather than restoring a snake halfway through a turn. Your best score is local, not a comparison against other visitors. Reaching ten dots completes the challenge; there is no invented boss phase after that goal. For a first win, aim for steady turns and enough open room, then return later if you want to make the route feel cleaner.
